and really, I think I've already said like everything - omg. seriously. I can blab. give me a camera and a captive audience...I'll talk for days...and even I don't follow half of what I'm saying.

side note: um, yeah - its been POURING here in la...and yeah, I got drenched - so I swear my hair looked really cute this morning, its just the tragic after shock of the wetness. ewww.

I promise promise promise I'm getting more vids up here! I have like a million that I want to do - including the return to my diet blog...there is a reason I had to put a halt to it - its coming back!

If you’re in the Los Angeles area from now until Feb 6 – I totally suggest (very highly) that you check out this amazing art gallery!!! Perhaps I am a little biased because I was involved with this project but it is one of my favorite (if not my most favorite-est) piece of work I contributed to. One, because I love Pammy Anderson and Barb Wire. And two, because the video artist is amazing, sweet, and talented!

There are reviews coming out within the next month – so check out the LA TIMES and upcoming Art Forum Magazine!

OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE

Michele O’Marah
A girl’s got to do what a girl’s got to do
January 9 – February 6, 2010

Kathryn Brennan Gallery is thrilled to present A girls got to do what a girls got to do, an exhibition of new work by Michele O’Marah. For the exhibition, O’Marah has created three new video works that are re-created scenes from the Pamela Anderson film Barb Wire (1996). Continuing her examination of the mass media representation of the revolutionary, this exhibition is the second half of a project that began with her piece How Goes it with the Black Movement? (2007), whose focus was a PBS broadcast interview between Black Panther leader Huey P. Newton and conservative host and author William F. Buckley on his program Firing Line. A counterpoint to the heady, academic discussion of the former, O’Marah’s current source, Barb Wire, is an adaptation of the graphic novel of the same name. Anderson’s “Barb” is a disaffected mercenary in the post-Second U.S. Civil War city of Steel Harbor, who gets caught in the middle of the revo lutionary activities of a former flame who is working to expose the ruling Neo-Fascist government for its ruthless behavior. Aimed at a Gen X audience, the film has acquired a cult status despite a poor reception, both critically and at the box office.

For A girls got to do what a girls got to do, the artist will be exhibiting three video works, installations of set pieces, photographs, and text-based drawings. Having re-staged four scenes from the film, O’Marah has cast a different actress for each to play the character of Barb. In addition to the artist’s probe of the corporatized, MTV version of a revolutionary hero, O’Marah’s efforts serve as deconstructive analyses of the film’s representation of femininity. Hiring a diverse range of professional actresses to fill Anderson’s stiletto high heels, O’Marah’s “Barb” takes various forms. Working with each actress, O’Marah’s video works take on the most sexually explicit scenes from the film and offer a variety of interpretations of the lead role: campy, flirty, and sexy. The one-dimensional, Barbie Doll of a character is given a depth, sexuality, and humor that is lacking in the original. Set pieces from the production of the videos re-installed and accessori zed with photographs and sculptures blur the line between art installation and function. In addition, a series of text-based works on paper, pulled from dialogue and lyrics from the film’s soundtrack (primarily new metal cover versions of older songs), address issues of authorship and contrivance.

Michele O’Marah received her BFA from the Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia and currently resides in Los Angeles. O’Marah has had solo exhibitions at Sister, Los Angeles and Mary Goldman, Los Angeles as well as two person exhibitions at Rental, New York and Peres Projects, Berlin. Her work has been featured in group exhibitions at the CCAC Wattis Institute in San Fancisco, White Columns, New York, Blum & Poe, Los Angeles, the London Institute of Contemporary Art, London, and The Station, Art Basel Miami Beach.

World’s Fastest Talker Attempt – 650 WPM

Jan 3, 2010 Author: grindhouse | Filed under: Uncategorized

Hello!

So this is my "attempt" at the World Record for Fastest Talker. I say attempt because an official has to be on hand to make it certain - so technically I can't give myself the title without the authorization.

I had a different video posted last night but because I wasn't talking at the beginning - people think I sped the whole video up. Which, I understand, could be said about this one too - but I assure you it is not.

The current world record is held by a man at 637 words per minute (this man has held the record for the past 20 years now). The world's fastest female talker is currently at 603 words per minute (as mentioned in my video).

This passage is from "The Pleasure of my Company" by Steve Martin.

Hope you all have a great New Year. 2010 is going to be amazing - I know it!

xoxo

November is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month – Movember

Nov 2, 2009 Author: grindhouse | Filed under: Uncategorized

So Grow a Mustache and Support!

It’s such a great cause and I really hope this starts gaining even more recognition. I believe that statistics say that 1 out of 8 men will get prostate cancer in their lifetime. Movember is all about raising money and awareness to help with this – sort of like the pink ribbon for breast cancer – encouraging men to grow moustaches for the month of November. Its fun and its beneficial and as a chick – I think they are damn sexy!

I was lucky enough to be part of a fun little psa for Movember a few weeks back and got to meet the man who started Movember – starting with just a group of his close friends and now going world wide. He was very passionate about this; really inspiring.

Check it out below – oh, I’m hooker no. 2! we were just not into that giant prostate cancer!

ATTN: DAVID CRONENBERG RE: THE FLY REMAKE

Sep 25, 2009 Author: grindhouse | Filed under: Uncategorized

DEAR MR. DAVID CRONENBERG:

You are a genius. Some say you are a venereal horror genius to which I cannot disagree. However, I consider you to be a pure genius. Which is a title very few people in this world will ever hold.

Now of all your films I have seen (each one having a tremendous impact on my life), the one that is everything I'm about, the one that I wish and pray to be real my whole life, the one that IS me would be your brilliant 1986 remake of...

THE FLY.

The original directed by Kurt Neumann was brilliant, no doubt. But it didn't speak to me the way yours did. Its a sci-fi/horror movie, true, but it is one that I just couldn't imagine Hollywood without; not to mention this little girl's life in the midwest.

I first saw this film at the age of 5, on my fifth birthday to be exact. Right then and there it gave me my career goal, my life path - to be a scientist - to literally "change the world and human life as we know it". So thank you - this dream is still in reach as I am not a student studying the likes of and working with the real life Seth Brundles.

Perhaps, my biggest fantasy has been to teleport; even if that meant turning into a fly in the process. In fact, I related to Brundlefly because he was different and nobody could understand him; he was excited for something new even if it meant alienating himself from civilization. Again, I point out - that I am the same way.

So you see, to say the least, I am beyond ecstatic for this remake to happen.

For this remake means a whole new generation, my generation and perhaps the generation of my unborn children can experience the brilliance of cinema, the golden heart of hollywood blockbusters known as "The Fly".

Now my suggestions are merely suggestions and nothing more. But best believe that you have at least one supporter who is 100% behind this idea and will be crushed if it does not happen!

I am asking my fellow cyber-nerds, science geeks, and movie fanatics to get behind me in supporting this.

It will be a success.

It will be better and bigger and brilliant-er.

So I write this letter as a sincere fangirl who just wants to feel the scare and the smiles your movie brought to me when I was a child.

I write this on behalf of every other Brundlefly out there.

Anticipation.

"I am diseased, and it might be contagious somehow. I wouldn't want to infect you"

Let the movie making begin...

Kind Regards,

Trisha K. Paytas

Trisha’s Diet Blog Day 17 – Size 10 and Loving It…

Sep 25, 2009 Author: grindhouse | Filed under: Uncategorized

OHMYGA!!!

so yes, I have been slacking on my video updates - but not slacking on my diet!!!

in fact, I am feeling better than ever!!!

17 days ago, I was a size 14 and now I am a size 10 - isn't that ridiculous??? seriously. its sooooo crazzzy to me. For the most part, I've been eating clean (I've had about 3 or 4 cheat days) but I've been very strict on my cardio - like no exceptions!!! I do at least a half hour everyday on the eliptical - sometimes I do an hour, and some days I do about 90 minutes - it all depends!

Next wednesday (the end of week 3) - will probably be my next diet blog - so be sure to check in!!! I'm hoping to surprise you all...and maybe myself - I bought a super cute bikini - and I will be wearing damnit! ha. so this will give me that extra motivation I need!

I know I still got quite a ways to go to get to my ideal weight...but I am determined to make this happen for the first time. To make that big change in my life!

sidenote: pretty sure you all will get to be seeing what I've been working on very very soon! its another super funnn little project. don't want to give too much away - cause surprises are always better, right?

oh and another sidenote: the project I went away for is very different than my PERSONAL project I mentioned in the video. haha. my personal projects always make me the happiest and I am OH SO GIDDY for this one...like really, squeel in my pants, orgasm excited!

check back later TODAY for that video!

how are you all keeping up on your life change??? mini-diets??? healthy habits??? I know a few of you were doing it with me...so you know who you are and you know I am interested to hear your progress! so spill...

Hugs and Kisses,

Trish

I swear I am not getting paid to advertise these - they just really really work at keeping you hydrated, flushing out your systems, and of course - they're yummmii, duh!!!

Seriously - I really have to credit sooo much of my first week weight loss success to Crystal Light. I lost 6 pounds in 7 days by like maybe 3 days of cardio and not really changing what I eat (except for cutting out fried foods and sweets) but really, just drinking lots and lots and lots as often and as much as I could.

For one thing, liquids really DO fill you up (have about 2 crystal lights before one of your big meals - trust me, you won't be able to eat as much as you normally do). Two, you'll have to be tinkling every 10 minutes (not really - more like every hour or 2 - which is good and healthy).

Keeping hydrated seems like such a simple thing to do - but honestly, I do have to make an effort to remember to drink BEFORE I become parched. And I was always a skeptic, but really I'm not bloated AT ALL, my skin is clearing up faster than I could imagine, and I feel good and not so sluggish!

Now, drinking water and other yummii beverages, I'd say is the easiest part! To cut out booze and cola is fine, I'd rather save those calories for yummii solid food. But cannot lie - dieting (life change) is hard...I mean I'm really CHANGING MY LIFE - everything I've known and done for the past 21 years is getting altered...so I wouldn't expect that too be easy.

I'm starting with gradual change (just saying no to fried food and desserts), light cardio, drinking more water - but the more I learn about nutrition and being healthy, the more I want to change - and that is the ultimate journey.

I have 74 more pounds to go until I hit my goal...

Long ways - but what - WHAT ABOUT BOB? - baby steps!

Day 11 - Still going strong!

Hugs and Kisses,

Trish

I don't know what I was thinking!!!

I woke up this morning and was like I FEEL AMBITIOUS - lets do something funnnn to kick of week 2 and the start of my day...

well, once again a brilliant idea of mine turned out to be not so brilliant!

LOL.

kidding. I feel much better now - but seriously thought I was going to pass out. I think I'll just do one cardio session today!!!

oh and omg. I know my skin looks just like terrible with the lighting/angle/lastnight's foundation - but seriously. since I've been on my diet it is looking 1739892020 times better...this is like one sheet of makeup from yesterday but usually I have to cake it on all over, put blemish stick everywhere, powder, blush, bronzer, concealer - but really - eating better really does wonders...when it looks 100% - no nastiness - I will get all up close and show...lots of water tooo! that might be the trick - something is working!!!

ANYWAYS -

the point is - NOW I feel great.

and Universal Studios is one of my favorite places in the ENTIRE world - right up there with Disney Land, Graceland, Hawaii, Medieval Times, and Grauman's Chinese Theatre - those are my great wonders of Trisha World...

ooo - and ummmm, yeah, have you ever gone to an amusement park by yourself??? well - I have - more than once...haha...but today I felt extra dorkii because my shirt said conan o'brien so I sort of looked like a tourist - so yeah, all the photographer people/employees that want to take a group portrait when you first walked in - came up to me and was like COMMEMORATE YOUR MEMORIES AT UNIVERSAL HOLLYWOOD - so I'm like why not!?!?

so...

I whipped out my neon pink posterboard in my bag with my sign that read...

"I'M LOSING WEIGHT AT WWW.GRINDHOUSEBARBIE.COM"

okay - and get why this is brilliant, right - I take the pic and whatev and THEN when people go see THEIR own picciis - they see mine and want to go to my website -right?!? I also did this on the simpsons ride and jurassic park - but then it got wet and I kind of got in trouble -but whatevs...self promotion!!!

I loooove it...

ooo - I did buy a super cute universal hoodiie (that I've always wanted) and a $2.00 bottle water - such a rip but it was my life support!!!

you know what kind of surprised me even more than making it up those stairs - was the amount of people who were on the elevators - as you can see, I only ran into like 2 people on my way up...which is kind of saddd!

well - I'm going back this weekend!!! anyone want to come with??? we'll be taking the stairs...

STAY HYDRATED!

Hugs and Kisses,

Trish

Because I could just NEVER lose weight if I couldn't have any!

Seriously, I loooove sweets. I love cookies, brownies, cakes, pies, candy bars, krispiies, they are sooo yummii and I just love to bake them.

So yeah, while I may not be able to eat all of the above everyday -

I can eat Jello everyday!!! There's like nothing in it...just pure deliciousness. And while I understand maybe it doesn't do anything for your body - it does satisfy it in a very un-caloric way...which is key!!!

Watching re-runs of The Biggest Loser last week and I saw this on there - Bob was actually showing one of the teams about the banana sundae pudding from Jello brand and I was like - omg. no way! and he was right. The puddings, I believe have like 60 calories - which is like nothing...and in this video I said Jello had 40 - wrong...

JELLO ONLY HAS 10 CALORIES!!!

10 Calories! 0 Carbs!

That's like too good to be true, right???

Seriously. Its crazy but it really makes me feel like I am not deprived whatsoever. I eat one for a snack and sometimes I eat one after a meal - but heck you can eat one after every meal and it still wouldn't matter!!! So yum.

Also -

Does anyone know when the next Biggest Loser starts airing? Is it this week? I am sooo excited - now that show really gives inspiration! So excited!!!

On a side note: I have been keeping busy with lots of funnn projects, and I'm thinking a few of them should start airing in the next month! So I'll keep you posted either here, on my website, on twitter, facebook, myspace, all of the above, wherever! - got to love the internet, right?

Thank you all sincerely for your continued support, reading your comments really make this effort worth it! Brings a smile to my face!

Hugs and Kisses,

Trish
